Forum Reminders from the Admin:
"Please do not post messages trying to sale your own items, if you suggest an item or natural product that is ok, but do not try to spam the friends for your own profit. Also do not send messages putting one another down or talking about the Elders in a bad way. Please do not talk bad about another Brother or Sister no matter how bad we may feel. Also do not post anything negative about the congregations. I do realize we all get down at times but we should never talk negative about the friends. Remember to keep this place a place of support and friendship.
I realize we must vent sometimes because the nature of our illness but remember we are also Jehovah's people first. If you need to talk about your feelings do so, talk about anything on your mind. All I ask is do not post anything about the subject matter to do with the topic of sex. If you have a mental illness related to some past abuse please put *TRIGGER* in the subject line and space down a few lines so others may skip over the message if they wish. If you feel your message may upset others please put *TRIGGER* in the subject line and space down a few lines also.
Again do not post anything to do with sex unless it is related to past abuse and follow the above guidelines. Do not put anyone down because of the method of treatment they chose to use. What works for one may not work for another.
We all must try and do what works for ourselves. But it is good to share with each other what we do in case each other wants to learn. Please feel free to go off topic about anything you want, this is also a group of friends, and I hope to create a friendly group of people, so please just share. Thanks for being part of a great group of people."
Geez, what's left to talk about?

In a few sentances, why did you leave the truth?........
by jambon1 inif you had to write down just a few sentances about why you left the truth, what would you say?.......
jambon;.
wholeheartedly embraced it for a few years after love bombing etc then saw widespread hypocrisy.

As I wrote in my disassociation letter:
I hereby disassociate myself from the WatchTower organization. I have, and will continue to, diligently aspire to the Christian principles of truth, honesty, love and justice. And as this is my goal in my dedication to Jehovah God, I can no longer in good conscience be affiliated with an organization that consistently violates these principles as well as my desire to follow them.

Jehovah baby: you were my better-half, but just an invitation to the blues.
by tetrapod.sapien inlosing jehovah was like losing a girlfriend that you loved.
you barely had time to flinch when you found out that she had been sleeping with all your friends and stealing your records to pawn off.
that you had just been another sucker on the vine.. when jehovah dumps you, you start looking at yourself longer and harder, and wondering what it was about him that you found in yourself, until all you see there in the reflection is just yourself, dancing with an imaginary hand and waistline.. when jehovah was gone, and the war was over, i realized that all the things that had made me "good", and "moral", and "hate what was bad", didn't mean anything to me anymore.

Feelings about disfellowshipping, etc.
by lostlantern ini was reading a post on here from a young man who will be facing a judicial committee for a sin he committed.
he is asking for advice on what to do.
a lot of feelings came rushing in on me as i thought back to how my brother was unfairly treated by an elder body.

Thanks lostlantern for this thread and for sharing your story with us here.
"A lot of feelings came rushing in on me as I thought back to how my brother was unfairly treated by an elder body."
I empathize with you. I posted what I went through in my jc on albertjw's thread. And it kicked up alot of old feelings and anger for me. No matter how much time has passed that experience still lives in my soul.
It was cathartic though to write about it. I really hope this young man can save himself the heartache that I, your brother and so many others have gone through at the hands of the elders.
I wish you and your brother well. I'm curious, are your parents still jw's? How did they get their heads around how your brother was treated?

how to behave in judical committee? pls help
by albertjw ini am new here, excuse my english.
it seems that some of you are serving or have been serving as elders and have judical committee experience (stillajwexelder for example).
i want to know how i must behave in jc meeting to avoid disfellowshipping.

Hi albertjw,
Welcome to the forum. It takes courage to be here and I honour you for that.
You said that you've apologized to the girl involved. So you've laid bare your sin between the two of you, the only two involved. And I'm sure you've sought Jehovah's forgiveness as well. According to Matthew, that is what must be done. The rest is necessary for the maintenance of the watchtower power structure.
I can relate to your experience. 6 years ago I was disfellowshipped for porneia. No intercourse, just touching. My "sin" only happened on two occasions and it was I who came forward to confess, almost immediately. My judicial committee was 6 hours long. I was honest, sincere and repentant. Yet they disfellowshipped me anyway. I appealed. I went through another long judicial committee, which said I was indeed repentant but still upheld the decision to disfellowship me. I was out for a year and a half before being reinstated.
During that time, I had nightmares and flashbacks of my jc experience. The intimate questions, the callous elders, the lack of love and empathy. I tortured myself wondering what more could I have done. What should I have said not to get disfellowshipped? Should I have cried more? Cried less? Said more? Said less? Used a different tone of voice? Wore different clothes? After months of this my doctor diagnosed me with Post Traumatic Stress due to my jc experience. I was put on stress leave from my job. To this day, 6 years later, I still have the occasional flashback and panic attack because of that jc.
All the while, I still believed this was the true religion. It was the only reason I was willing to go through all of that hell. I truly believed these men, although abusive, somehow had God's backing. I now know differently.
After doing a sincere study of the Bible and learning the organization's history and how they've consistently misapplied the Bible, I disassociated myself last August. If I had known during that jc 6 years ago what I know now, I would never have confessed to the elders. These men have no authority over you. They cannot read hearts.
The reality is no matter how repentant you are, no matter how much you play their game, if they want to disfellowship you, they will. And the mental torture you will go through in the process can be devestating. Make no mistake, it is a game. You may have a sincere loving elder on your jc but it only takes one who's on a power trip to override the other two. This is YOUR life they're messing with. Do you really want to give them that much power?
All my best to you. Private message me if you'd like to chat further.

by tall penguin inthis weekend i saw the body worlds 2 exhibit in toronto.
for those of you who aren't familiar with it, the exhibit features dead bodies of humans and animals.
using a process called plastination the specimens are preserved.

Tetra: "it's funny that people need to justify the exhibit as "scientific" in order to go see it. they can't just go see it as art, because somehow that is different. somehow as art it is disturbing, but as science, well then, that's okay then."
What struck me as funny is that if this exhibit showed dead naked people with their skin on, many people would've considered it pornographic and offensive. Somehow, without skin, it's "scientific".
Tetra: "what is it you people are so afraid of? "
Yes, some people are afraid. I was more disturbed. But disturbed is good too. It got me thinking. For me, what I didn't like about the exhibit was the macabre energy behind it. They had on display one of the donor's forms where he expressed why he wanted to become part of the exhibit. And there was the air of "I want to be immortal" in it. To me, it seems that many people are looking for yet another way to "cheat death". I view death as part of the journey to be accepted. And when death happens it is to be honoured and released, not oggled for artistic purposes. But that's just me.
I love the human form. I think it's fascinating and spiritual and sacred in many ways. I just didn't feel that this exhibit honoured that beauty. That's my opinion anyhow.
